Kathleen Adele Younglove

Kathleen Adele Younglove, 88, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:00 A.M. Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Courtyard Estates in Kewanee. She was born December 12, 1917 in Chicago, Il. the daughter of Henry Hal and Kathryn (Malone) Webber. She attended school in Chicago and received her nursing degree form Loyola/Englewood Hospital in 1942.
She married Dr. Robert Younglove November 14, 1944 in Chicago, Il. and worked with him as a surgery nurse in Alaska during WWII. Following the war, they moved to Kewanee. He died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, one grandson, two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters Kathleen (Michael) Cravatta of Camdenton, Mo., Bonnie (Dr. Douglas) Tomlinson of Kewanee, two sons Hal (Jacqueline) Younglove of Overland Park, Ks., David (Connie) Younglove of Kewanee. 11 Grandchildren, Courtney, Chad, Ashley, Whitney, Cameron, Alison, Jeffrey, Erin, Hilary, Trevor, Todd and six great grandchildren Connor, Aubrey, Sawyer, Samuel, David and Ashtyn.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee and its Altar and Rosary Society and was a charter member of the Catholic Book Club.
Kay did volunteer work with Visitation School being a teacher’s aid, and was a Girl Scout leader for 11 years and had Cub Scout meetings at her home. She started the candy striper program at both hospitals in Kewanee for high school girls. She joined the Red Cross and Helped with Blood mobiles until 1999. She also volunteered at Kewanee Senior Center for many years before she moved to Courtyard Village. She was an active member and former officer of the Kewanee Chapter DAR for 50 years. Kay was a member of Midland Country Club and enjoyed golfing in ladies leagues.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee, Il. Revs. James Pallardy and Robert Prendergast will concelebrate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church on Saturday.
Private family inurnment will be in the Westville, Indiana.
The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee Hospital Building Fund or the Kewanee Hospital Hospice.
