Marjorie Ellen Elizabeth Beyers, 83, of rural Annawan died at 8:15 A.M. Friday, September 22, 2006 at the home of her daughter Mary Elizabeth Castner of Skokie, Il.
She was born May 30, 1923 in Annawan Twp., Henry Co., Il. the daughter of Frank Albert and Ellen Elsie (Couve) Beyer. She graduated from Annawan High School. She married John Junior Prall. They were later divorced. She later married Heinz Lassman. He preceded her in death in 1985. Her parents and one brother William M. Beyer also preceded her in death.
Marjorie worked for Western Union for many years in Kewanee, Freeport and Evanston, Il. During WWII, she learned Morse code and sent and received military messages for Western Union. She retired to farming on the family farm in the early 70’s. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and the family farm was name a Centennial Farm. Gerald DeSmith of Annawan did the tenet farming for many years. She enjoyed animals and gardening.
Surviving is one daughter Mary Elizabeth Castner of Skokie, Il., three grandchildren Shannon Catharine Clifford, Margaret Maureen Clifford, Creighton John Clifford and two great grandsons Aaron Tyler Farkas and Joshua Kasmire Farkas.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Pleasant View Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of the arrangements.
