Salina Marie Verplaetse, 97, of Kewanee, Il. died at 4:25 A.M. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Royal Oaks Health Care Center in Kewanee.
She was born January 7, 1910 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of Edward and Eugenia (VanDerShusen) Rosebecke. She was reared and educated in Kewanee.
She married Maurice Verplaetse May 1, 1929 in Kewanee. He died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Morris and Gerald Rosebecke and one sister Margaret Hoogerwerf.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Salina was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, her fruit trees and taking care of her cats.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Kewanee and its Altar and Rosary Society, Women of the Moose and the Flemish-American Club.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee, Il.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to go to Kewanee Hospital Hospice.
