Obituary

Joseph W. Bloome, 84, of Tiskilwa, Ill. and formerly of Kewanee died at 6:55 A.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. He was born August 19, 1923 in Kewanee, Il. the son of William and Augusta (Proast) Bloome. He graduated from Kewanee High School.

He married Mazie Lisenbee September 15, 1951 in Princeton, Il. She died December 8, 1983. He married Doris Wyatt April 5, 1985. She died June 21, 1999. His parents also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons Corben (Darlene) DeKoster of Hampton, Il., Joseph (Rosemary) Bloome, Jr. of Kewanee, Il., one stepson David (Linda) Poppens of Glendale, Az., two grandchildren Sarah (Jim) Rodella and Stephen Bloome, two step grandsons David and Chad Poppens, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving is his special friend Gynethia Bishop and her family.

Joe had been employed as a welder at the former Kewanee Boiler Co. for 44 years; retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Kewanee, Kewanee Boilermakers Union and the Princeton Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, driving his car and going to the riverboat. An avid collector; he enjoyed yard sales.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kewanee. Fr. Johnston Kitunzi will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of arrangements.
