Obituary
William Wallace Anderson, 82 of Fort Smith passed away Monday, October 06, 2008 in Fort Smith. He was one of two children born to George William Anderson and Helen F. Long Anderson in Chillicothe, Missouri February 20, 1926. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1943. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the U.S. Navy Choir Service. When his tour of duty was completed, he returned to Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and graduated in 1949. He worked as an Industrial Engineer for Boss Manufacturing in Kewanee, Illinois and with Wells Lamont Corporation in Niles, Illinois until his retirement in 1990. He was a Boy Scout Master for many years in Kewanee. He was a member of the Golden Legion at Westminster. He was also an RSVP and VITA volunteer and a member of the Noon Exchange Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Emily Snowden and a daughter Helen Marie Anderson.
Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 9, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. Local visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 10:55 A.M. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Illinois. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Kewanee, Illinois. Fr. Anthony Bernas of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate.
He is survived by his wife Marie Anderson of the home, step-daughter Katy (Mary Kay) DeJaeger and her husband Kyle; two step granddaughters Kellee De Jaeger Gilmour and Kimberly DeJaeger Genuardi, great grandson Caleb Gilmour and great grandchild Genuardi due in February, one niece Dillon Snowden and two nephews George and Bo Snowden.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Sparks Regional Medical Center 6 West, and Peachtree Hospice for their care, understanding, and support.
