Christine Marie (Kilstrom) Curry passed away February 15, 2009, at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, MN. Christine was born October 17, 1947, to Carl P. & Muriel (Calcutt) Kilstrom, at Kewanee Public Hospital in Kewanee, IL.
She was married to Phillip Curry of Kewanee, IL in July of 1967. The two had one son, Warren Curry, born in 1973. The two were married for 24 years, residing in Cedar Falls, IA, and divorced in 1992. In the early 80’s Christine owned her own consignment store in Cedar Falls, IA, called Jeans-N-Things. She also worked as a furniture packer for Allied Van Lines for a short time. She has spent many years working as a waitress in Cedar Falls, Iowa; Kewanee, Illinois; and most recently Kasson, Minnesota. She has also spent a lot of her time as an elder caregiver always giving over 100% to everything she did. She was baptized December 9, 1962. She has regularly attended the Kasson Church of Christ for the past 4 years. She was a hard worker and proved it by obtaining her GED in 2004.
Christine was a person who enjoyed life. Throughout her life Christine had a love of horses, both riding & grooming. She enjoyed playing cards & board games with a competitive nature, bowling and spending time with family & friends. She truly loved and cherished spending time with her 3 grandsons. She always loved singing & dancing, and most of the time you could catch her singing or humming an old gospel hymn in her day to day activity. She was selfless, always looking to help others. She was an all around people person. We know Christine passed on to be with her Lord to be happy and safe forever.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Carl P. Kilstrom (1970). She is survived by her only son, Warren & (Kara) Curry; mother, Muriel Kilstrom, one sister Susan & (Delbert) Calhoun; two brothers Carl Jr. & (Jeanette) Kilstrom, Gary & (Carol) Kilstrom; three wonderful grandsons, Benjamin, Caleb, & Nicolas Curry. She had many nieces and nephews as well as many friends from all the places she has lived. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Schueneman & Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Smith of the Concord Church of Christ, Concord, MN will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. A memorial has been established in memory of Christine. Come as you are and join in the celebration of Christine’s life. There will also be a Memorial Service for Christine at the Kasson Church of Christ in Kasson, MN on Monday February 23 at 6:00 P.M.
