Patricia Ann “Patti” Gray-Pickering, 59, of Kewanee, Il. died at 12:15 A.M. Monday, December 13, 2010 at her home following a courageous battle against cancer. Patti was born May 5, 1951 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of John and Reesa Mae (Burchett) Ball, Sr. Patti was reared and educated in Kewanee graduating from Kewanee High School in 1969.
She married Tom “’Mas” Pickering on July 20, 1995 in Cambridge, Il. He survives along with one son Peter John “Pete” (Amanda) Dolieslager III of East Dubuque, Il., one daughter Mrs. Capricia Breann “Brea” David McKitrick of Mesa, Az., one granddaughter Autumn Dolieslager, one step grandson Zach Doty and a brother John “Mike” (Sharon) Ball, Jr. of Lufkin, Tx.
Patti was preceded in death by her father John Ball and her mother Reesa Mae VanRaemdonk and one sister Beverly.
Patti was a member of the “Ladies of the Heart” Internet organization. She had been a member of the First Christian Church of Kewanee and of the First United Methodist Church of Geneseo.
Patti was the founder of the Kewanee Chapter of the Henry County Humane Society and was instrumental in the Animal shelter being built in Kewanee. She was a Cub master for Boy Scouts of America for four years and was a lay counselor on Compuserve for four years.
Patti employed her many talents in numerous ways. She was a well known photographer, artist, published author, tax preparer, a co-sponsor of the Neponset Jr. High Cheerleading Squad, a breeder of Great Dane Dogs from her kennel “Yalad”, was co-owner of PourHouse Productions; a web site design company, and PhotoPicks Photography & Art.
Cremation rites were accorded. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 7th, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall from 5pm-8pm. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
