Obituary
Kenneth (Ken) Herman Schultz, 87, of Kewanee, Il. and formerly of Peoria, Il. died at 11:55 A.M. Monday, December 27, 2010 at Kewanee Care Home. Kenneth was born February 18, 1923 in Kewanee, Il., the son of Herman A. and Ruth E. (Wager) Schultz. Kenneth graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was last stationed at the Naval Research Lab in Anacostia, D.C.
He attended Valparaiso University and received an Engineering Degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1945. Kenneth worked for Boeing Corp. in Wichita, Kansas and was employed at Caterpillar in Peoria, Il. for thirty-eight years retiring in 1985 as a plant engineering manager.
Kenneth served in the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission and held the office of President and several other offices at the First English Lutheran Church in Peoria. Since retirement, he became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee and was an affiliate member of St. James United Methodist Church in Sarasota, Fl.
Kenneth married Ruth Hartshorn of Kewanee in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1991. He married Phyllis Cady Holtschult in 1992. She survives along with one son Stephen of Washington D.C., and his children Sara (Gary) Phillips of Morgantown WV, Adam (Robyn) Schultz, Megan Schultz, and Evan Schultz, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one daughter Susan and her husband Dr. Michael McDonald of Madison, Wi, and their children, Dr. Allison McDonald and Samantha McDonald, both of Chicago, Il, and Cassidy McDonald of Madison Wi; one sister Lois Bracken and her husband Robert of Rockford, Il., a stepdaughter Diane Humphreys of Bloomington, Il, and her children Jason (Angelique) Humphreys of Albuquerque, NM and Shannon (Ward) Donovan of Mendota Il and two step-great grandchildren, Gabriel Humphreys and Justin Donovan.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2010 from the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee. The Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee or the Kewanee Salvation Army. The Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. is in charge of arrangements.
