Obituary
Paul E Berry, 94, of Kewanee, Il. died 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Il. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Craig and Fr.Richard Barclift will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Military rites will be accorded at the church following the services. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be private at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church. The Schueneman & Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il, is in charge of arrangements.
Paul was born December 7, 1916 in Neponset, Il. the son of Jesse and Martha ( Widner) Berry. He was reared and educated in Neponset. Paul married Frances Wilson July 2, 1943 in Sioux Falls S.D. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons Brad (Suzie) Berry of Gravois Mills, Mo., Dennis (Margo) Berry and Gene (Diane) Berry all of Kewanee, one daughter Candy (George) Parks of Memphis, Tn, four grandchildren Arick, Melissa, Kristi, and Tom, nine great grandchildren Madelyn, Macy, Brody and Mia Parks and Alxia, Angelina, Gabrella, Nathan and Marcus, two sister-in-laws Rosemary Sigler and .Patty Berry.
Paul was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and the Army Air Corps. Following the war, he continued military service until 1962 retiring with the rank of Major.
He owned and operated Berry Custom Finishing in Neponset, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kewanee and sang in the Chancel Choir of The First Baptist and Congregational Churches. He enjoyed music, golfing and gardening and was a gourmet cook. He was a member of Kewanee Masonic Lodge #159 A.F. and A.M.
