William F. “Bill” Andrew, 67, formerly of LaFayette and Kewanee, died at his home on Thursday, September 15, 2011.
Bill was born October 27, 1943 in Kewanee, Illinois the son of Fredrick W. and Helen E. (Cinnamon) Andrew. He grew up in Kewanee and attended Wethersfield Schools. Bill graduated from W.H.S. in 1961 and attended Western Illinois University.
Bill designed and installed many landscape projects in the Kewanee area when he was associated with the LaFayette Home Nursery. He had previously worked for “Green Thumb” and in sales for the Bloomington, Illinois Pantagraph Newspaper. He served as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He had been Mayor of LaFayette and was active in the LaFayette Methodist Church.
Bill married Claudia Lahr Cree on July 20, 2002. She survives along with a daughter Camelia (Stephen) Symons of Jacksonville, Il., two grandchildren Amelia and Cody Symons of Jacksonville, a sister Susan (Gary) Moss of Crossville, Tn., three nieces Cristy (Keith) Harris of Oak Park, Il., Michelle Moss of Sarasota, Fl and Kathy (Heino) Hazelhoff of Nokomis, Fl., three great nephews and one great niece, an uncle Oliver (Joan) Cinnamon of Kankakee, Il. and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Fredrick W. Andrew and his mother Helen Andrew Norton.
Cremation was accorded and private family inurnment will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. A public memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. There will be no visitation. The family requests NO flowers. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
