Donald E. Walker, 76, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:52 A.M. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Kewanee Hospital. Don was born November 18, 1935 in Kewanee the son of William and Edith (Hack) Walker. He served in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. Don married Jewneel Walker on July 30, 1965 in Ottawa, Il. She survives along with a sister Lillian Owcarz of Chicago, Il.., several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father, mother and step father Frank and Edith Gawenda, two brothers Russell and William Walker and a sister Doris Scott.
Don was employed at the former Kewanee Mail-o-graph until 1966. He later worked at Kewanee Manufacturing and Farm Service prior to retiring in 1993.
He enjoyed fishing with his stepfather, hunting and working on the computer.
Cremation was accorded. A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Salvation Army or the Kewanee Humane Society.
