Obituary
Lena B. Thompson, 95, of Kewanee, Il. died at 1:40 P.M. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Kewanee Care Home. Lena was born August 10, 1916 in Farmington, Il. the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Ward) Tracy. She grew up in Lewistown and graduated from High School there in 1934. The following year, she moved to Kewanee to begin nurses training. In Kewanee, she met William Rexford Thompson Sr. They were married on March 8, 1937 in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1989.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Franklin, Vernon and Weldon Tracy and one sister Wilma Bruder.
Surviving is a son William R. (Judith) Thompson, Jr. of Kewanee, a granddaughter Michelle L. Parks of Kewanee, a grandson Kevin R. Thompson of Independence, Ky. and six great grandchildren Andrew, Carter and Jake Wills, Ashton Parks and Kristian and Kenidee Thompson.
Lena was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee and was active in many of the church’s women’s groups.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Paul Copeland of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
