Obituary for Wesley I. McNaught, Sr.

Wesley I. McNaught, Sr., 80, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Kewanee Care Home. Wesley was born February 18, 1939, in Kewanee, the son of Merrill and Hazel (Broadbent) McNaught. He graduated from Wethersfield with the class of 1957. He attended Brown Business College, Peoria. Wesley married Judith Cruse on June 22, 1979 at the First Baptist Church, Kewanee, she survives.
Wesley is also survived by eight children, Jamie Burwell, Wesley McNaught, Jr., Lisa McNaught, Julie (Jake) Marsh, Gordon McNaught, Harvey McNaught, Jeff (Jenny) Ferris, Marilyn (Mike) Swearingen; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister in laws, Gail (Kenny) Knowles, Terry (Spike) Young; brother in law, Greg (Lynette) Cruse; two cousins who really helped in his time of need, Harvey Armstrong, Deanna (Mike) Fleming; and special friend, Kathy Hand. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Jimmy Ferris.
Wesley owned the family business, McNaught Trucking. He later worked as a security guard. He also sold calendars and pens. He enjoyed talking, drinking coffee, and reading the newspaper. Wesley also enjoyed playing pool, camping, and attending the grandkids’ sporting events. Wesley had a big heart; he was known as the gentle giant. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Flemish American Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Please leave an online condolence for Wesley’s family at www.schuenemantumblesonfuneralhome.com.
