Obituary for William "Bill" J. Kelly

William “Bill” J. Kelly, 48, of Galva, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home. Bill was born February 14, 1972 in Kewanee, the son of William L. and Patricia L. (Haradon) Kelly. Bill married Tara Morthland on June 8, 1996; they later divorced.
Bill is survived by his dad, William L. (Laurie) Kelly, his mother, Pat Galli (Hector Interial); four sons, Kyle Kelly, Kewanee, Coleton Kelly, Galva, Conner Kelly, Galva, Cameron Kelly (Elyssa Sopiars), Edwardsville; special friend, Amy Porter, Galva; two brothers, Chase (Becky) Echelberger, Kewanee, Tate Echelberger, Kewanee; three sisters, Tricia Galli (Brandon Kopp), Kewanee, Chandra (Dalton) Kuffel, Kewanee, Susan (Patrick) Herriot, Rockford; uncle and aunt, John (Nira) Beard, Kewanee; cousin, Casey (Donnie) Brose; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, Jack and Donna Kelly; grandmother, Ellen Krause; uncle, Dave Haradon; and his nephew, Chance Echelberger.
Bill owned K & S Asphalt and Seal Coating, where he took great pride in taking care of his customers. He worked at Timberlyn Lighting prior to owning his own business. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his extended family at Giant Goose where he was known as Ranger Bill. He loved spending time outdoors. He coached his kids’ sporting events and made sure he was present for every game. Bill especially loved spending time with his boys.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Pastor Don Reul will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the funeral home. Masks are recommended and please observe social distancing guidelines.
